Discussion

Situation

An apartment block in Jordan was faced with the urgent challenge of implementing an efficient wastewater treatment system to be able to discharge the sewage into a nearby river in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. Due to the urgency and the specific local requirements, the local planning office decided in favour of a ClearFox® QuickOne+.

In Jordan, environmental pollution caused by inadequate wastewater treatment is a major challenge. The wastewater infrastructure is either outdated or non-existent, especially in rural areas. As environmental awareness and the associated regulations are increasingly focusing on environmental protection, small sewage treatment plants are a good alternative for decentralised wastewater treatment.

Problem

The challenge with this project was the municipal wastewater treatment plant, the apartment block was connected to, was no longer able to comply with the prescribed discharge values. To relieve the plant, selected dischargers were given the task of organising their own wastewater treatment. This included the block of flats.

As no decision had yet been made as to whether the municipal sewage treatment plant would be renovated, the apartment block opted for a permanent solution that would allow it to discharge its wastewater directly.

Solution

The ClearFox® QuickOne+ is particularly suitable for the treatment of grey and black water and meets all requirements for direct discharge in accordance with discharge class N. Thanks to its compact design and simple installation, the small sewage treatment plant could be put into operation quickly, which meant that the wastewater disposal of the apartment block could be ensured immediately.

The supplied ClearFox® QuickOne+ is a multi-chamber system consisting of a buffer and a treatment chamber. The tanks are made of rotationally moulded plastic, making them ideal for below-ground installation.

The biological chamber contains an SBR system that treats the wastewater in cycles. The core of the treatment is the aeration phase, in which the microorganisms in the wastewater are supplied with air. During this phase, they respire the contaminants in the wastewater to form a secondary sludge. Aeration of the wastewater is followed by a resting phase in which the sludge settles to the bottom of the plant. Due to the aerobic sludge stabilisation, very little secondary sludge is produced, which is why sludge pumping is kept to a minimum.

The system uses sensors in the aeration units to recognise the volume of wastewater and can therefore adjust the aeration times. This means that it is no challenge for the system to cope with fluctuating wastewater loads, such as during celebrations or holidays.

FAQ

The ClearFox® QuickOne + is a compact small wastewater treatment plant that treats both grey and black water. It is ideal for projects where an efficient, decentralized wastewater solution is required, such as in apartment buildings, rural areas or businesses.

The system is based on a multi-chamber system with SBR technology ( Sequencing Batch Reactor ). In cycles, the wastewater is aerated, contaminants are biologically broken down and sludge is settled. The result is clean water that can be discharged directly.

The system is compact, easy to install and requires little maintenance. Its robust construction made of rotationally molded plastic makes it durable and ideal for underground installations. It also produces minimal secondary sludge, which reduces operating costs.

Yes, the system is equipped with sensors that monitor the fill level and automatically adjust the ventilation times. This makes the system suitable for projects with irregular wastewater volumes, such as holiday homes or event locations.

The system requires little maintenance. Thanks to the aerobic sludge stabilization, only minimal secondary sludge is produced, which usually has to be pumped out every 1-2 years. The technical inspection and cleaning of the aeration systems should be carried out at regular intervals.

Thanks to the compact design and the prepared modules, installation is quick and easy. The system can usually be installed and put into operation within a few days, depending on the local conditions.
