Smaller industrial wastewater flows in the 1 to 10 m³/day range can arise from small industries such as micro-breweries and small independent food and beverage manufacturers. But in addition to that, many heavy industries produce small but highly polluted wastewaters. Specialist wastewaters from the pharmaceutical industry can also be small in volume.
The characteristics of each industrial wastewater varies significantly. High BOD and COD, oil, heavy metals, APIs, and other pharmaceutical compounds, are examples of some pollutants in industrial effluents.
