ClearFox® DAF

Dissolved Air Floatation

Advanced Physico-Chemical Separation Process Technology

Description

The ClearFox® Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) is a physico-chemical separation process used to remove solids, oils, hydrocarbons, dissolved metals and organic compounds (COD) from process and wastewater. In this process, water that has been saturated with air under high pressure is introduced into the flotation cell. When the pressure is suddenly released, fine microbubbles form, which attach to the flocs and carry them to the surface. Our flotation systems are modular in design and can either be installed in containers or as standalone units.

ClearFox® DAF units have low operating and maintenance costs. We do not use any mechanical sludge scrapers with moving chains (no lubrication required). The systems are robust, reliable, and have been successfully used for years across various industries. An optional remote monitoring and access system is available. This allows real-time monitoring of operating data and remote adjustment of settings if necessary. Customers have direct access and can view all relevant operating conditions at any time. All our technical components are certified and approved.

Advantages

Lower OpEx Through Reduced Chemical Consumption

Our dissolved air flotation system operates with a vertical upward flow. Combined with the round tank design, this ensures complete mixing of the entire volume. Dead zones, like those found in rectangular, horizontally flowing systems, do not exist in our flotation. For operators, this results in up to 15% less chemical usage, significantly lowering operating costs.

Flexible, Compact and Customized to Your Needs

Our modular system is tailored to the specific requirements of your facility and can be easily expanded later if needed. The round flotation design is more space-efficient than rectangular systems and can either be installed free-standing or containerized, depending on the situation on site. This allows our flotation units to be seamlessly integrated into existing processes and offers maximum planning flexibility for customers.

Fully Automated Operation and Remote Monitoring

The system operates fully automatically, independently managing both process control and chemical dosing. Optional remote monitoring with remote access allows operation conditions to be conveniently checked and adjusted at any time from any location. This saves time, reduces workload for personnel and ensures smooth operation.

Safe Operation and Low-Maintenance Due to PP

Our flotation units are made of high-quality polypropylene, which offers excellent resistance to aggressive chemicals such as chlorides or acids. Unlike stainless steel, this material ensures long-term durability even under challenging conditions. The system is designed without any moving parts, eliminating the need for mechanical components like chains or scraper mechanisms. This means there are no wear points, ensuring trouble-free operation with minimal maintenance. Over the past twenty years, more than 250 systems have been successfully installed and are operating reliably around the world.

Reduced Sludge Volume Saves CapEx and OpEx

Our flotation system produces up to twice the dry solids content in the generated sludge compared to conventional systems. This significantly reduces the overall sludge volume. For operators, this means that a downstream sludge press can be designed much smaller and, in most cases, a separate thickener is not required. As a result, both investment and ongoing operational costs can be reduced. If the sludge is disposed of directly, the lower volume also leads to significantly reduced disposal costs.

  • Standardized manufactured models
  • Compact design with a smaller footprint than standard DAF systems
  • Clog-free saturation system
  • Production of pre-thickened flotation sludge
  • Ease of service

The ClearFox® DAF system operates fully automatically. A helical rotor pump feeds wastewater from an onsite equalization or collection tank into the reactor. The wastewater passes through a pH-regulation system to adjust any fluctuations before entering the DAF reactor. Additives are mixed in a polymer preparation station to aid flocculation. The system’s advanced design ensures efficient separation of pollutants from the wastewater.

The ClearFox® DAF system is designed for low maintenance, featuring a self-cleaning patented design that often eliminates the need for mechanical scrapers. Its fully automatic operation and construction from corrosion-resistant materials further reduce maintenance requirements. Regular checks of wastewater composition, chemical supply, and air pressure are recommended to ensure optimal performance.
